Birth isnt over when your baby is born

A lot of people think that once the baby’s born that’s it, but that’s not the case. The third stage of labour, happens after the baby has been born. It’s the birthing of the placenta. Just like birthing your baby there are different ways to birth the placenta. It can be actively managed by having an injection called Pitocin, cord clamping and cord traction to deliver the placenta. Or you can allow it to spontaneously come on its own. This can be encouraged by increasing your levels of oxytocin such as nipple stimulation or gravity.
