As soon as possible in your pregnancy, this allows time to build a rapport and benefit from the doula support throughout the entire pregnancy. Hiring a doula later in pregnancy doesn’t mean it wont be beneficial for you to have a doula but it just means you will have less time to learn and educate yourself on birth and postpartum. During your pregnancy a doula will generally want to cover a range of things with you which may include but are not limited to; prenatal visits, birth plan preparation, previous birth debriefing, postpartum planning and debriefing, your values, pain relief options, hypnosis thing techniques and more. Which is why it is recommended that you start looking for your doula as soon as possible .
