Whats that stuff on my baby?

Vernix! Is the white cheesy substance found on a newborns skin after birth. It plays an important part in before during and after birth.
Before birth vernix acts as a barrier against the amniotic fluid, stopping your babies skin from getting all wrinkly in the womb.
During birth the lubrication from the vernix helps the baby get through the birth canel and protects the baby’s sensitive skin.
After birth it has become quite common for the vernix to be wiped away but recent research has shown that leaving it to dissolve on its own has many health benefits; including infection control, PH levels, antioxidant functions and protection against ultraviolet light and other chemicals. _______________________________________Thank you to my lovely friend for sharing some photos of the birth of her daughter with me ❤️
